๐Ÿ•ฏ Aluminum Board 1L JLCPCB LED Panel (PCB + PCBA)

Intro

If you're thinking of making your own aluminum board (Al) here is my example of the custom aluminum LED panel with powering from the surface-mounted USB-C and additional temperature sensors (NTC thermistors) to measure actual operation temperature (investigation purposes).

Work Demonstration

Board could be powered from the any USB-port by using 5V3A charger and USB-C cable:

Because it has 5.1k resistors on CC1 and CC2 pins it could be used with PD chargers. Additionally each input has PTC (resettable) fuse 5A:

Additional Feature

This is a not simple LED panel because the board has footprints for temperature sensors. It's possible to install digital IยฒC sensor SHT30 or analog NTC thermistor in 0402 or 0603 package, which could be used for precise monitoring of the operational temperature, which important for LEDs.

I decided to use NTC sensor 0402, so for better measurements it's covered by the heatsink glue (paste) for better thermal contact:

Conclusions

  • Making simple aluminum boards it's almost the same as 1-layer board without vias and components on the bottom side
  • You can use most of standard SMD components with aluminum boards
